Facinating. China is attempting to block the auction of historical artifacts in France, that are apparently the spoils of war. The artifacts are two bronze sculptures of animal heads, a rat and a rabbit. China claims ownership based upon cultural heritage, and scorns any insinuation that human rights should be discussed in the same context.
I'm not claiming that two wrongs make a right. But I'm not sure the French are wrong, either - if the artifacts are the spoils of a war 140 years ago, then the sculptures are part of the French cultural heritage, too.
