Begin with the end in mind

What do you want on your tombstone? No, I don't mean pizza.

To accomplish something grand takes focus. In the words of Yogi Berra, "If you don't know where you're going, you'll probably end up somewhere else."

So. Where am I going with this? Well, I don't know where this blog is going to go, per se. But I know where I've been, and I don't want to go back there. For a time I couldn't get away from what mess I'd been making elsewhere on the web, and my self-consciousness was stifling. But I'm moving forward from there finally, in the interest of a fresh start! And I look forward now to recovering my voice.

Which brings me back to "What do you want on your tombstone?"

Begin with the end in mind - decide where you want to end up. I thought, what do I want my children to think about, should they find themselves visiting my grave? I decided I wanted to remind them of God's glory. And the joy of song and worship. So I chose this:

Because I love to sing, and worship, and revel in God's glory - what I want on my tombstone is this: "She has no less days to sing God's praise than when she first began."

Hallelujah!
